He could abandon his principles. 8^) John McCain was a -maverick- in 2000 when he ran against GW Bush for the Republican nomination. The party leaders wanted someone who would represent their agenda.
The GOP is all about an agenda. They wanted Bush, a guy who would just read what they put in front of him. A guy with no political thinking of his own, in fact not a thought in his head.
McCain didn't support the agenda, he had his own ideas. So when McCain won the first big primary, in New Hampshire, the party destroyed his candidacy with a particularly vicious slime campaign in the next big primary state, South Carolina. McCain went off to lick his wounds but quickly decided he ought to become a Team Player.
So he came back to endorse Bush. And for 8 years he was a strong Bush Booster. And, surprise, he came from last place, near bankruptcy in 2008 to snag the Republican nomination.
Of course now he couldn't win because he'd identified himself with Bush for all those years. Did you notice how ALL the 'serious' Republican candidates in 2008 had all the same opinions and positions on all the same issues? The Party Agenda.
Paul doesn't embrace the agenda. He'd rather be right than be president. So he will never be a viable candidate in the national Republican Party.
Ron Paul is such a staunch constitutionalist, he has support from the left and the right. The mainstream media don't like to report on him, or let him get a seat at the debates because he stands against everything they stand for. So he has a tough fight ahead.
But his support is growing, and I believe he will at some point have so much support, they won't be able to ignore him. I hope it's this coming election cycle. He was awfully close last time.
I think with a little help from all of us out here- telling people we know, posting on websites, spreading the word, it can happen.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
