Why is it okay for fat people to make fun of skinny people?

I think it's just ignorance. I use to do the same in a light hearted way thinking, its jabbing a bit but, it's still a compliment, I mean who doesn't want to be thin. Someone pulled me aside one day and calmly and nicely explained to me how it hurts her to be called thin.

She explained that, as some fat people stubbornly can't lose weight others stubbornly can't gain weight and it's a frustration when others make fun and say I look like a boy because I have no curves like a girl is suppose to have. It was like a crack on the head, I quickly understood and could sympathise. I never made fun of her weight again.

Moral of the story is, don't get mad YET. Sometimes it's worth trying to explain why it's wrong and why it hurts. Some will continue, those are bully's but, some just don't know what they are doing is wrong and need to be explained to.

They are not making fun of you, chances are, they are truly concerned, but saying it in a tone of voice as to not cause alarm. I tell people all the time they are too thin, but I do it lovingly. One of my children is 6'4" with a 29" waist .. I can literally put my hands together around the tops of his thighs, and join my fingers.

Mothers see everyone as their own child, and they want their own child to look healthy and well-fed. I have seen people thinner than I knew people could be. In most cases, because they are strangers, I do what is polite and not say anything.

But, if I become friends with someone, I often say (lovingly), "Wow, you are so thin! If I was your Mother, I'd be working on that." People don't make fun of thin people -- if anything, when someone is unusually thin, they appear ill.

People are expressing concern.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
