There are a couple of different reasons why people get colds and other viruses and illnesses more during the winter time, than warmer climates. 1) As mentioned before, the body is more acceptable to colds when the weather is cold outside. However, just simply walking outside is not going to cause this.
The body is weakened when out in the cold for very long periods of time. Which is probably not the case with most of us. 2) The main reason is because people are indoors more and around more people.
That calls for more germs being spread. People are sneezing, shaking hands and such more. People gather for the holidays, eating off buffet style feasts which are known to harbor germs.
People go to church more and indoor activities, like plays and such. Kids aren't usually very sick during the summer. They are outside, playing in the open air.
They are away from other kids because of summer break. I had a winter baby and did his doctor ever warn me not to take him out of the house during the first 6 weeks. Not even to church because the winter time is when all places that people gather are harbored with a sea of germs.
The cold virus seems to thrive in colder temperatures. In the summer time many people are outdoors in the heat where the virus isn't as likely to cultivate and spread as easily. I would suggest using a warm steam wash on a regular basis during the fall and winter months.
You and your children can use this without a lot of effort. And my kids usually enjoyed steam washes. I would put a a foot stool in front of the bathroom sick and fill the sick with hot water.
You can add a couple of drops of peppermint oil or peppermint flavoring. Place a towel over your head, lean forward and breath in the vapors. Hand washing and sanitizers are essential for preventing the spread of colds and other viruses.
Wash hands often and try to avoid touching your face. Use lysol spray on door knobs, phones, keyboards, and computer mouse, water faucets, shopping cart handles. Carry baby wipes or "Wet Ones" or even a tissue to wipe of door knobs, public phones, etc.Sounds a bit out there I know but it does help.
Teach your kids to sneeze into the bend of their elbow instead of into their hands, and avoid sharing drinks. With small kids make sure you wash toys regularly to avoid the spread of viruses.
The body is more susceptible to disease when under stress. Cold puts the body under stress. With almost everyone experiencing the stress, disease is able to grow and jump from person to person.
While I don’t have a scientific answers for this question, I do believe that our bodies are more susceptible to catching colds during the colder months compared with during the warmer months. Just from my own experience, I know the more people come to work sick during the winter and in doing so, they help spread the germs thus causing others to come down with some form of their cold. This could also be due to the fact that we are more active during the summer.
Most of do some form of exercise whether its walking or outdoor sports on a consistent basis and we don’t seem to be as active in the winter months and a body is at its best when its active. Again though, that is purely a guess.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
