Why is my 11 year old cat growling and hissing all the time. I have 3 other cats that he has grown up and they are fine. I have had tiggy for 11 years and all of a sudden he has started to live a few doors down and where he used to love to snuggle up with me he just growls all the time and hisses at me.
I have another cat he grew up with and 2 years ago I got twin kittens but he was still loving and wanted to be with me all the time. The family down 2 doors have been letting him in there and more and more he stays there. I do not know what to do as I am so upset, can anyone tell me how to get my cat back to a loving one and why he is growling?
Is he ill I wonder but he is still quite cubby so no lose of weight, please help. Asked by tiggy6639 30 months ago Similar questions: 11 year cat growling hissing time cats grown fine Pets.

11 year old cat growling and hissing all the time This is my observation of my two silly cats most of the time. We took them in when they were older feral kittens. They adopted us (with a little help from me).
I called to them each from my front steps when they were passing through my yard. They have been with us over three years now. The photos are of them a few days ago.
While eating lunch, I heard a strange noise. When I went to check what the noise was, this where I found the two cats. They were sitting at the French doors growling.
Very unhappy but not asking to go out. I was thinking what could be bothering them that much. They are hardly ever this close to each other and getting along.
One of them usually, growls, hisses or bats the other. I looked out the kitchen window and saw Ben Jr (my husband named him that) as it is our neighbor Ben's cat. He harasses ours all the time.
Ours are very territorial. Sadly, it is funny how our two little cats over power this huge cat. He is probably three times their size.
They will chase any animal off the property. Sources: hubpages.com/hub/Our-Growling-and-ssing-... .
This sounds like what is called “redirected aggression” and is just that. Blog Cat ) At New BoyfriendHere’s a doozy of an inter-species problem. It sounds like a case of the folks needing to really lower their expectations of how quickly this kitty-cat is going to come around.
They need to think in terms of months – not days or weeks – before the cat will feel comfortable. 2 Responses to “Blog Cat ) At New Boyfriend” 1. Kathy in NH says: October 23, 2008 at 9:32 am Tracie, We’ve chatted a couple of times on your wonderful show on Sirius.. I just love ya!
My problem is agression is between 9 yr old sister kitties who up until a few months ago got along famously, grooming each other, napping together etc. Nothing in the house has changed . Maddie ( the agressive cat) has started hissing and growling at her sister Minne and sometimes she growls at me. There’s been occassions when the hissing and growling takes place in the wee hours and we’re woken up by the runkus and a room full of white hair flying around.
At feeding time they act normal- both cats eat side by side and the same goes for “snacks” - both cats are side by side while I hand out the goodies. I can’t figure this out and it’s becomming troublesome because these girls are starting to get battle scars on their noses! Could the agressive one have an illness?
Any idea as to what could be going on here? Thanks!2. Tracie says: November 7, 2008 at 9:14 am This is one of those baffling things that can happen between the two oldest cat buddies, even littermates who have grown up together.
Undoubtedly, something happened that nobody witnessed in which Maddie saw or heard something (another cat outside a window? A startling sound in real life or on the television) and she turned on Minnie. This sounds like what is called “redirected aggression” and is just that.
Problem is, the cat who is the recipient of this out-of-the-blue attack can bear a grudge and be fearful of her attacker. So one thing to do is try to pay attention to what circumstances make Maddie hiss? What sets her off?
Can you get a sense of what is going on when they start in with each other? It sounds as if they’re not going at it all the time, just occasionally and get along otherwise. If it happens during the night all the time, try separating them, just to get some peace.
You might also try some interactive play between them – use a fishing pole type toy – to distract them when the hiss-fit starts up. Also, on my website there is a link in “On Air Tips” to Spirit Essence, which are Bach flower remedies formulated just for feline emotional issues. The natural ingredients are distilled into an oil that you rub inside the cats’ ears or on their paw pads and tin about half the cases it really make a difference.
The one you want is called “Ultimate Peacemaker. ” The Official behavior Consultant of CAT CHAT, “Dear Sally” Bahner, points out that it also couldn’t hurt to get a check-up for Maddie: maybe she doesn’t feel well, which is making her cranky. 1 He seems to be preferring his new 'retirement home' rather than the social circuit with your other cats. Let him go live happily with them.

2 I would suggest that you take him to the vet for a check-up. It is possible he is sick. On the other hand, he may just prefer the neighbors' home.
Maybe they have no other cats to compete with, or feed him the food or treats he likes more, or let him stay inside more. Cats do choose where they want to live, so it may be that he is tired of coping with the other cats, or something else in your house (not-so-clean litter boxes, new furniture, new family member, who knows? ) Of course, you could bring him home (or get the neighbor to bring him to you, if he won't let you pick him up), and keep him inside all the time!
It is safer for him, and being home a few days should settle him back down. Try not to take it personally; it is an adaptive feature for cats. If you can figure out what he doesn't like at your house, or what he likes better at the other house, and can rectify or duplicate it, hopefully you will have your kitty back home.
Good luck! Katherine .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
