Put the litter box downstairs near where she hides. I think you just have to give her time to get over her bad experiences. She needs that kitty litter near by, so she doesn't develop any bad habits.

She has to get over being given up for a dog! .

It will take some patience to win her back.

You are welcome. We are working with a rescue dog that we have had six months and she barks at me every day.

I go down all the time and talk to her she does not hiss and me but she will not come to me either her face is sad ladonnachad 5 months ago .

Do you think I should put her litter box down stairs?. Ladonnachad 5 months ago .

You could start that way. See if it helps or not.

I share breafast with our pup and feed her a small snack every night. Now she waits for me.

That is awesome.. ladonnachad 5 months ago .

Yes, please put her litter box back downstairs. Also something comfy to sleep on. Continue to talk to her, softly and nicely, and don't push her.

She will come around, though it may take some time. Thank you for rescuing her from a bad situation! She is scared and confused right now, and doesn't know what happened or why.So she will need a lot of TLC and kindness and patience on your part.

I REALLY LOVE HER ALREADY..THANK YOU SOO MUCH, SHE IS SOOOO SAD..SHE DON'T UNDERSTAND ladonnachad 5 months ago .

No, she doesn't, and anything you do to force her to accept your affection will be misinterpreted at this point. Spend time in the basement with her, whenever you can, even if you are just reading a book or something. Keep her company, and let her get used to her new situation, and you.

She will be fine. :)Kat .

I come home the first thing I do is run down stairs and call her name make sure every thing is fresh and clean and talk to her alot. I make alot of trips down stairs:) ladonnachad 5 months ago .

I am a huge animal lover ladonnachad 5 months ago .

So she is not just freaked out about her recent change in circumstance, but she has likely been traumatized, too, by the dog. This will take some time, but my advice doesn't change: be kind, be calm, be welcoming, and be there for her. Keep talking to her, and encouraging her, and spending time with her.

She will come around, though it may take a long time. Treats are nice, too: try Temptations, which are like kitty crack. :) Toys are good, too, like a "da bird" (my personal favorite cat-tested and approved), or soft balls to bat around when you are not looking.

Also, a trip to the vet is in order, when you can manage it: she needs to be checked out to be sure there are no medical problems, and vaccinated. Getting her spayed, if this has not already been done, is important, too. Kat com/Bird-Original-Single-Replacement-Feathers/dp/B000FWAP8A/ref=sr_1_2?

Oh, I strongly recommend this book. Check it out from the library, rather than buying it, if you want. It is very helpful with all kinds of cat issues!

Take the litterbox downstairs, because like cbc6529 said- she could start going outside of the box if she's too afraid to use it upstairs. When you go downstairs to see her, try to get down to her level and talk softly with her. Offer kitty treats, gently try to engage her in play.

This show is terrific. They just had a situation like yours. animal.discovery.com/videos/my-cat-from-... jpg.

Time and patience, you've gotten good information here from almost everyone. I would also recommend going to her room and laying on the floor with some treats, ignore her, no eye contact, that is confrontational, down at her level she will feel more comfortable, let her come to you. Speak softly to her, but let her make the move towards you.

She'll come around, her whole world has been turned upside down, she had a very scary time at her old home, Put her litter box downstairs with her, leave the door open, when she's ready she'll start exploring, probably in the dark of night.

THANK YOU..COULD YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN:). Ladonnachad 5 months ago .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
