Why is my 3-4 week old baby eating every hour, spitting a bit and not sleeping at night, but eats well every four hour and sleeps well @ day?

It could be your baby's going through a growth spurt. Most kids have one at this age. And it also sounds like your baby's got nights and days mixed up.

What we did when our youngest had her nights and days mixed up is invited a *well-rested* friend to come over and keep her awake during the early evening until about 10 p.m. We couldn't have done it because both of us were way too exhausted (and she was only a few days old). But he could, and did.

She fell asleep and stayed asleep for about 6 hours and only woke briefly to nurse before falling asleep another 4 hours, and did great with nights and days from then on out. We were all so much better rested after getting her sleep schedule straightened out! The downside was that she didn't really sleep during the day.

Doesn't sound bad until you've dealt with a cranky, tired newborn who won't sleep. They can't do anything for themselves and get really, really needy late in the day. But wearing the baby in a wrap or sling or meitei is a great way to cope with it.

If your baby doesn't seem to be gaining weight, then take him right into the doctor without delay. Or if he seems dehydrated, isn't making wet diapers/peeing in the potty (if you're doing early training), or if his soft spot seems sunken. If your baby doesn't have these symptoms, it could just be an immature digestive tract and underdeveloped muscle tone combined with an immature stomach valve that makes it easy for him to spit up.

When my son was that age he had colic. Has your pediatrician said anything to you about that? Your baby is still trying to learn to eat.

Are you bottle feeding or breast feeding? My son was bottle fed after fighting him to breast feed. Also try asking about acid reflux. My neice had that and she was experiencing the same symptoms that your child is having.

TALK TO YOU DOCTOR! You are a new mommy it's fine to ask a million questions!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
