Why is my cholesterol high, but I lead a healthy lifestyle?

OK, a bit of a rant in return. Cholesterol is not the bugaboo it's been made out to be by mainstream medicine. It is an essential building block for every cell in your body, and the raw material of every steroid hormone in your body, including vitamin D.

Considering all-cause mortality, the sweet spot for total cholesterol is 160-200. By caring about your diet and fitness, you are at lower risk for health problems than that overweight smoker you mentioned. Numbers lie, a lot.

That said, yeah, you could use some improvements. Increase aerobic exercise, get out in the sun some time every day so some of that cholesterol can be converted into vitamin D. Lose all the trans fats from your diet, they are the real killers.

If the label says hydrogenated or interesterified in the ingredients, don't buy it. Virtually all baked goods like cookies, crackers, doughnuts and such are loaded with trans fat. Some manufacturers have changed their recipes because of public awareness and pressure but many more just don't care.

The olive oil on the other hand is good, don't fear to use it liberally in cooking. Add fish to your diet or take fish oil capsules daily. (2 grams) Learn to like more veggies and fruits.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
