Why is Obama now trying to say that his vote against raising the debt ceiling was a mistake?

Because it was politically safe to do so. The Republicans had the majority, so he knew that he could appeal to his base without worrying about it actually happening. Similar to the Republican vote earlier this year to repeal "Obamacare".

They knew they couldn't actually do it, but it was safe for them to pretend they could and look good to their base. The Dems didn't get their majority till January of 2007.

Because it was Bush's debt ceiling in 2006...Obama is all about "do as I say, not as I do".

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
