Why is soccer called soccer in North America and elsewhere it is known as football?

The traditional name for soccer is futbol or football. However, the name is already used in America. Here, we consider football to be the sport played by infamous teams like the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys. Soccer just happens to be the next best name!

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
