Why is Sojourner Truth significant to the Pre-Civil War era?

She escaped slavery, was a abolitionist. Traveled around different places talking about that slavery needed to be ended. She wrote a poem called "Ain't I a Women" She believed that men and women should be treated equally.

Had 13 kids and all got sold as slaves and she was taken by slave holders.
