Why is the liberal philosophy to punish success with higher taxes and rewarding failures with handouts?

First of all, the rich have plenty of money, so taxes barely make a dent in their bank accounts. Secondly, you cannot just say that all of the poor are lazy and should be punished. Maybe, and only MAYBE some of them are lazy, but you cannot assume that all of them are.

A couple of years ago, hundreds of people were laid off from my mothers job. All were extremely hard working people and they are now still struggling to find jobs again. Finally, I commend those who actually earn their success, but many are born into their money or "earned" it in ways that many would agree is wrong.

Considering that the "rich" have gotten richer, while the poor have gotten poorer over the past ten years, it would appear that the "rich" are reneging on their part of the "job creation" meme. The jobs being created are poor jobs at minimum wage, not the wealthy jobs of the elite. As to your assertion "I would rather live on food stamps", it's quite obvious that you have little personal pride.

Many people who are on food stamps are there because they are underemployed, not employed and having to take care of their family and the last thing they want to do is see their family go hungry. So they swallow their pride and get food stamps. I'm sure the cardboard box would do you well in the frigid temperatures that most are experiencing right now.

As for the taxes, let's look at a hypothetical, shall we? A family of 4 bringing in 20K. After taxes, it's like 15K if they are lucky, leaving them about 1200/month.

After rent, utilities, car/public trans, they might have about 200/month for groceries, clothing and expenses for 4 people. Another family of 4, making 200K (which I would consider "rich", after taxes has about 154K, leaving them with 12K PER MONTH. Even with 3 times the rent (house payment), utilities, car and fuel, they still have over 9K PER MONTH for groceries, clothing and expenses for 4 people.

Gee, Support a family of 4 on $200/month or $9,000/month. Even if taxes for the rich were DOUBLE what it was for the family on 20K, they would still have $6,000 PER MONTH to spend on sundries. I know which one I would rather have.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
