Why isn't Amazon making it more clear on the Amazon. Com pages that Askville is NOT Amazon. Com customer support?

Every day there are many people posting questions to Askville that are clearly intended for Amazon. Com customer support. Some of them have even been unfortunate enough to include personal information like address, phone numbers, and maybe even credit cards.

Does anyone else think Amazon should make it really really clear on the Amazon. Com pages that this isn't customer support? It seems like they're doing a great disservice to their customers by making it ambiguous.

Yes I think you are right, that Amazon needs to make it clearer on their pages how to access their customer service. BUT, I also think that these people that end up with problme orders need to take the time to read a bit! When you ask a question here on Askville, it barely even mentions Amazon, so I'm not sure why people get confused and post their customer service questions here, and then proceed to post private info like account numbers, phone, address, etc.No wonder identity theft is so rampant--people are making it easy for the thieves!

If they read even the first question posted, most of the time it has nothing to do with Amazon so I'm not sure why they would then go and post about their order here. Doesn't make sense to me! Amazon deserves some of the blame for not prominently pointing out there customer service, but personally responsibilty is a part of the equation, too.

I completely agree I just ran across a question that includes an address and telephone number. Never safe! Amazon should do whatever is necessary to not link the askville site to its customer site.In fact, I just browsed through my Amazon home page, and I can't figure out how people are coming to Askville for questions.

The help page does not direct them there. Askville isn't displayed prominantely on the front page.Is this just because I've been an amazon member for forever and already am an askville member? Does it look differently to new members or people who weren't already affiliated with Askville?

Personally, I think that Amazon doesn't really need to advertise askville in its site. That just leads to people loading up the message boards with questions asking, "Where's my stuff? " or "How do I call customer service?

" Of course, I could just stick to the topic boards and not the front page, but, let's face it...my job's really boring. Sources: My opinion .

They are trying pretty hard. You are overestimating the intelligence, knowledge, and experience level of the average user. Not that everyone is stupid, but plenty of people on "the internets" don't really pay attention to what they are doing, don't read what is on the page, and will click ANYTHING that comes up on the screen.

If you've been reading the questions about information that could be found very easily with a web search you will understand what I mean. First Amazon says: Have a shopping question? Try askville. It's free!

Can you buy light bulbs that never burn out? Any recommendations for a good non-fiction book? Then there is a warning: You are now leaving If you have a shopping question about an order or your account on Amazon.

Com please contact Amazon Customer Service. Click here to proceed to But people click right through and ask about a specific order, or their account. There is nothing Amazon could do, except put up a THIRD page with DANGER!

In firey letters. That might reduce it by another 10%. Sources: www.amazon.com .

They probably ought to make it clear or at least post a clear warning not to give out personal info. I doubt that they will do the former however because people who come here looking for customer service are obviously having a problem finding it on their web site and when they do come here they do usually get some help as to how to contact customer service. In essence, like the reviewers on Amazon we are helping them do their work and I don?

T look for them to give up that resource anytime soon. Sources: my opinion .

I checked Amazon home page... I took a look at Amazon's home page and it is certainly clear and easy to find customer service, shipping info, account info...everything....and I'm not all that savvy on the computer. I couldn't even find a reference to Askville on the page. I think there used to be a 'visit Askville' note on the page but they took it off..

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
