It seems hypocritical to host a concert to draw attention to the notion that our energy use is destroying the environment, and then go on to rely on electric lights, amplifiers and broadcasting television to conduct the concert.... Yes, it "seems" hypocritical. Keep in mind, the point is HOW that energy is generated. Yes, it "seems" hypocritical.
Keep in mind, the point is HOW that energy is "generated". The point was/is to use "renewable" and "sustainable" energy sources:- solar electric/thermal- hydro-electric/mechanical power- wind turbines- bio-diesel fuelsYes, people can also bicycle, walk, or ride animals for transportation. The Internet and broadcast/cable/satellite television broadcastingare reasonable alternatives to the motor vehicle fuels and timeit would require for larger audiences to attend live acoustic concerts.
If it were "bad",Do you believe Al Gore would have "invented" the Internet? ROFLMAOYes, while Al Gore did not "invent" the internet,(now former) Vice President Gore did support its transition(and subsequent expansion) from a U.S. Government-funded(National Science Foundation & Department of Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency)Internet, into what we have available today:More liberal "Acceptible Use Policies" at the cost of clients paying for access by the month. In the U.S. ,we should be using hydro-power a lot more than we do,but environmental "red tape" makes it more difficult than it should be to construct hydro-power facilities.
Personally,I believe there may be global warming, and yes,it is very difficult to discern what are long-term climate changes and what their causes/sources are. Whether global warming is a bad or good thing is difficult to determine, what is bad for one area of the planet, may be good for other areas;so we need to consider the overall balance and effects. Someone needs to build a model of the overall energy balance between the energy the Earth absorbs from the Sun, and what is lost by radiational cooling to outer space.
With Earth's relatively temperate overall climate,I would be a lot more concerned if the model showed that the Earth was cooling at a much greater rate than the Sun could replenish it. It is "easier" to build a sun shade (artificial eclipse) than it is to build a solar concentrator. I believe using Geo-Thermal & nuclear energy(where there may not really be a "surplus")may be as bad in the long-term as fossil fuels.
We depend on the Earth's magnetic field(created by the movements of the Earth's hot molten Iron-Nickel core)to help shield Earth's atmosphere from the Solar Wind. If we hasten the rate at which Earth's core cools, then without the protection of the Earth's magnetic field,we can lose much of Earth's atmosphere like what probably happened to Mars. http://WWW.LiveEarth.Org/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_EarthIf you need more information, contact me LeheckaG on AskVille.

Do you have thompson twins live in concert on dvd.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
