It seems that this is a common problem with this model laptop. There is one of three things occurring: either a fault with the CD-drive itself, a problem with the connector on the motherboard, or a problem with the operating system. For troubleshooting purposes the usual answer is to reload the operating system but if your CD-drive is non-operational that causes a problem doing that.
If there is power going to the drive (you can open and close the drive tray) then a quick fix to try is editing the registry to remove the references to the device. Sometimes third-party software installs device filters that hook the device driver at a very low level and occasionally cause the device to stop working all together if they become corrupted. There are complete step-by-step instructions directly from Microsoft on how to do this --> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/ There is an option to have Microsoft's "Fix It" tool ... more.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
