Luckily most of them I run into are online, so I can easily ignore them. However I have had problems in real life a couple of time. With both I did not have to "deal" with them as others dealt with them for me.
The first was a new member of a local inclusive homeschool group. The same week she joined someone started planning a drama club. This new member piped up that she thought that the club would be a wonderful opportunity for Christian fellowship and to install Christian values in the children.
I responded by pointing out it was an inclusive group with many members who were not Christian. She argued that inclusive just meant any denomination of Christianity and that the good Christian people wouldn't jeopardize the lives and souls of their children by allowing them to be around non-Christians. She even went as far as to say she would do anything to keep me away from all children including my own.
The board for the group stepped right up and took action. The blocked her from the group and even called and told her that if she showed up at a group event she would be charged with trespassing. The second incident involves the mother of a girl that used to be in the same troop as my daughter.
She has gone all over the county bad mouthing me for being a non-Christian and has complained that I should not be allowed to work with Girl Scouts. Well we showed her. Not only am I still a leader, but I hold 2 positions with the service unit and I am 3rd in line for the local Girl Scout day camp.
I usually try to let them be. If they won't leave me alone? Then I generally ignore them.
Sometimes, an ignoramus will force the issue, like the one that decided to come to my door, despite the clear warnings along my fence line banning trespassing. Then they get a face-full of 12 gauge and one last, final warning.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
