Will any gpu that uses pci-e x16 slots be compatible with any motherboard that has an x16 slot? Or are there other factors?

A lot of them fail frequently. The electrical connection on the end should be shielded all the time to prevent static electricity from destroying the circuits inside.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
