Will Microsoft eventually force users to upgrade to their new operating system, Windows Vista?

I am running this operating system, but am curious if others are afraid of upgrading in the future. Asked by ßrandon 60 months ago Similar questions: Microsoft eventually force users upgrade operating system Windows Vista Computers > Software.

Of course they will Although we don't have to listen - as long as our systems work well with the software we have, and nothing that we can't live without comes up, we can stay with XP for as long as we want. When I did tech support for an ISP we dealt with a lot of peopel using 98! That was only a year ago.

Sources: My opinion .

They can't FORCE anyone to upgrade. One of my computers is still running Windows 98. I'm not gonna upgrade to Vista anytime soon, and I don't plan to buy an upgrade unless I get a better computer.

Eventually, Microsoft is gonna stop making security updates to Windows XP in a couple of years, so unless you want some applications or games that only run on Vista or if you want new security updates, then you don't have to upgrade. I still have a computer with Windows 98, and it works fine.

That's not possible It's really not possible for Microsoft to force anyone to upgrade, but: Microsoft sometimes decides to stop supporting old operating system versions. You could still get support from a non-Microsoft 3rd party, but since Windows is closed source software there are some problems that only Microsoft could fix. I'd say that there is a 100% probability that Microsoft will stop supporting Windows Vista sometime within the next 20 years.

This is probably not much of a reason to be worried, though, because by that time you'll probably want a better operating system anyway.

No, but the next computer you buy will have Vista installed I don't think Microsoft can "force" anyone to switch operating systems. They aren't the gestapo (yet). However, I can almost guarantee that the next computer you buy will have Vista pre-installed on it.In that sense, yes, you will be forced to upgrade to Vista, but it will be your own choice.

Sure they will they will drop support of all windows program except the ones that they want people to use as they did with Windows98 and made all go to windowsxp and windows2000............i don't think down the road we will have a choice at all.

I need a usb to serial device certified for windows vista operating system.

Changing my Computer Operating System (XP) to Windows 7; will windows 7 upgrade be sufficient for this task.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
