No. The country was not suddenly overwhelmed with love for the Pope and Vatican when Kennedy was elected either; those who were already Catholic remained so, but the majority of the country remained some variety of Protestant Christian. If you ask me, Religion has no place in politics and shouldn't matter.
The fact that it does, in 2012, and that there are questions like this on Yahoo, shows that we really haven't learned anything at all as a species. Focus more on what the candidates plan to do with your money and your laws, rather than what church they do or do not sit in on Sundays.
I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
