This is a great question! Actually, many many poker players (more than you might think) get their start or enhance their poker chops by dealing in casinos, or even in home games and charity poker tournaments. Mike Matusow is a prime example of this.
He learned a lot about the game when he started dealing. He watched the players at the table and, over time, started to get the hang of the moves as well as reading people. He would try to guess what people had and started to get good!
Once he began playing, he quit his dealing job and went full time poker. Not everyone will turn into a pro from dealing, or even want to, but it is a great way of learning the game. Mike Matusow:
They have to be really focused on the game, and that highly-focused necessitated nature of a dealer almost forces him or her to learn the game, and to learn more than just how to play. They will learn all the intricacies that go into being a great poker player, including pot odds, making good reads, good betting patterns, and so on. I would say for your specific inquiry, that you should first learn the basics of the game, if you haven't already. It is tough to deal for a game you do not know at all.
Once you know poker in a general sense, you will know what to do and when to do it as a dealer. After this, you will just get better and better. My brother just became a poker dealer today after playing the game for years. Good timing, right?
I would suggest, as your first poker dealing experience, working for a charity poker room. This will give you an advantage: so when you go to apply for a dealing position at a casino, you will already have some experience. Charity poker rooms are everywhere.
Check some of your local bowling alleys, community centers or pool halls, they usually hold poker tournaments there for certain charities. Play the game once or twice before you start thinking about dealing. Once you feel comfortable, try dealing at a home game, or a practice game with some friends.
Then talk to the owner of the charity poker room. They are always looking for new hires (since poker dealers, like players, are pretty unreliable in terms of keeping a steady job :), so you should be set! They'll give you a few days of training to make sure you know what you're doing.
It's always really relaxed at a charity environment, and it's not as intimidating as a casino. If you can shuffle and do simple math, you're more than likely to get the job, then you can move up the ranks to casinos and beyond (poker playing)! Good luck in your quest and I hope this helped!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
