Would it be bad to just drink tea instead of plain water?

It's more work for your body to absorb the water from other drinks and digest the rest, plus the sugar in other drinks like juice and regular soda brings a host of its own problems. That's why doctors recommend plain water. Try drinking unsweetened/slightly sweet tea, or water with a splash of lemon juice.

I grew up drinking soda and didn't think I'd ever be interested in those, but now I'm a big fan of both.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
