The world would be a more peaceful pleace if people learned to check their egos and control their minds. The religon is not the problem, respect for others is the real issue. If people allowed other to live in peace then peace would be the ultimate religion and it would be practiced by each individual in their own way.
What I observe is people are materialistic and overly possessive. Lust, Greed and Anger are dominating the hearts of too many people so they are now encouraged to fight to get "theirs". Ture religion is designed to bring about peace and harmony for all the members of the society.
Religions appear to cause conflicts, the truth is it is not the religion, it is the ego. People need to feel that they are right and that they have the answer because "religion" is associated with core beliefs a person foundation. To challenge a core belife of a person or a group will cause conflict unles people learn to reapsect that the other side is entitiled to existn in peace regardless of their views.
I wish you well.DR.
It depends on the location. In an area such as the middle east? Absolutely. In America? Probably not.
Many former violent thugs have found religion and stopped doing what they used to do. It depends on the situation.
Without religion yes with out spirtualty no, religion is for peoople who are affraide to go to hell spiritualty is for peoople who have already been there.
Obviously. Concidering the number of religious conflicts and the attrocities commited in the name of religion it scare me to think of what we'd be like if every person was religious.
Nah. People would just admit what they truly fight over: money.
Negative. Religion is only a cause of an effect. If we didn't have religion, we would just find another cause to produce the effect.
Mankind as a whole is just a rude, selfish, egotistical, and violent species. Part of our individual thinking comes into conflict when our egotistical attitudes cross someone else's opinion. If we didn't fight about religion, then we would just fight about whatever was big enough and diverse enough.
The reason Religion is such an offensive topic, is because people can't have one discussion about it without a mindset of making the other person adopt his views. It's such a diverse topic and almost everyone has a different opinion about it. Religion wouldn't cause so much arguments if people just had a more patient and open nature.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and if you think to yourself, "no one can make me change my belief" then what makes you think you can change someone else's?
Story books are fulled with religion wars and this wouldn't happen if each religion lived by there faith there rule if they worked on the love that each religion teaches and let there god or how ever they believe in more powerful than a human to sovle the problems they face than all religions could live in peaces. You cannot bleam religion for people who are disloyal fierce without self control having no natural affection and you can't blame religion for the daliy stabbing that take place think about it don't those with no faith cause more hurt crime lacking respect for other isn't it those without faith cause more day to day social problems. The peace on earth is dispearing because no you is traning the children to care.
No. I think it would be utter chaos. The "higher power" or "fear of God" helps give people hope as well as keeping people in line, a lot less likely to do the wrong things.
Can you just imagine how much more despair their would be in the world without religion, I can. I think it would truly destroy all of us. Thank You for asking this wonderful question.
Keep on writing.
Absolutely not! Religion have a legalistic policy which discourages and defines what's wrong such as murder, rape, or any violence.
Yes,the world cannot solve by the religion, but Christ is the only one who can solve the many problems we face,God is the great peace maker if we have trully Christ in our hearts by faith and accepting him as our Lord and Savior.
That's a question for the ages. I tend to feel that morality and spirituality can be taught to children without religion. I think that teaching people to believe in their own abilities to provide meaningful experiences for themselves trumps teaching them that some deity is going to save them when they fall.
I believe that human are inherently good. We are not born bad (excepting those born with severe brain damage that makes them psychopathic). I would say 99% of parents would instinctively teach their children right from wrong without any help from religion.
If you believe in evolution, you have to believe that man determined right from wrong of his own accord. No one knows when religion first started, but scholars agree that it was invented to control the masses, not for moral instruction. Would all the holy wars have been fought if religion didn't exist?Probably.
If humans want a reason to kill, they'll find one. Just look at Iraq to see that. I think religion is a form of thought control, an attempt to control people that has failed horribly.
Only the weak and ignorant are "controlled" by religious beliefs. The intelligent and strong can see that even though there is benefit in having faith, religion has no real benefit other than forming a common bond or for fellowship. I don't believe the world would be a better place without religion, but I wish I could find out.
I think something else would just take it's place. I've always found Isaac Asimov's work, "The Foundation," to be quite prophetic in many ways. It's a shorter book but I think it mirrors our current society very well.
First, the rulers were of the religious class but as times changed, the rulers were of the merchantile class. So, when religion failed many people they looked to something else, that being the quest for money or things. I believe there are statistics that show that more people are turning away from organized religion than ever before in history.
However, I also think that something else will rise up for those people that they will follow. Then it might revert back as cycles normally do. So, I don't know if the world would be a better place because religion has always had a way of giving people something to believe in when they might have nothing else.At the same time, it has been used as a mechanism of control.
Neither one of these things would be different if religion weren't here, it would just be something else. People with power finding a way to control those with less, using any means possible.
I think that people who wish there was no religion don't realize how interwoven it is into everything else we do as well as everything that's happened to us as a society and civilization up to this point. It's not an accessory or add-on that could just be snipped away if everyone agreed to it. When you look back through history as a whole, the presence of religion seems to be one of the defining characteristics that makes us human.
You also can't necessarily define what "is" and "isn't" religion because everyone draws different boundaries and has different interpretations. Some people feel that ethics are strongly tied to religion; others don't. I don't think you can draw a clean line.
I can't say that the world would be a better place without religion because, if you removed it, you'd be removing an almost infinite and unforeseeable number of other things too.
I don't think so. It has been a crutch for many people in their time of need. This is like asking would the World be better without Greek mythology or the Norse myths. It is something passed down through the generations and clung to by so many.
I don't think this would be a question but for all the hucksters out there with their fake Sunday morning churches begging for money. Religion has united people and has been used to bring them together to defend from their enemies but has also torn the World apart at times. But even without religion the World would still have wars because wars are fought for one simple reason-greed.
I don't think it could ever happen. There are too many people that disagree on too many things about religion. Religion can be so many things.
Spirituality and the way people do things can have to do with religion. Besides, there are so many religions, there is no way that all of the people in the world could agree on one religion.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
