Would you be willing to pay more taxes if you trusted the government to spend it appropriately?

Nope, I work hard for my money and they take enough as it is. I would want to be able to decide where my money goes. Even if I did trust the government to spend it correctly I would still want to write the check myself.

It really depends on your tax bracket. The middle class is gettig squeezed out . But I am not against taxing the top 3 % at higher rates.

No! Income tax in and of itself is an arbitrary and therefore unconstitutional tax. It was adopted during WW2 to assist in the war effort with the promise that the tax would be removed after the war ended.

We currently pay more to our government than serfs paid to their lords in the Middle Ages. If my kids can't manage their allowance, am I supposed to give them more money? My income gets taxed before I see it.

Then, no matter where I spend it I pay an additional tax on sales, property, investment income, retirement, etc. The fact that every dollar we make is double taxed makes it unconstitutional.

To effectively provide services to the people who need it, in this country and around the world, the USA must have a strong financial foundation. We need to past a balance budget amendment that out laws spending money we don't have. In fact we need to limit our spending to 80% of what we take in (from tax revenue) so we have money to pay off our debt.

If that were the case I would be willing to pay into a fund that goes directly to pay down our deficit. That is the only tax increase I would agree to.

Nope. Gov't needs to learn to spend less and clean up its act. I can do soooo much better with my money than them.

I'd be willing to pay more in taxes if it would bring our country back to the high ranking status it once held and all of us were taken care of. But, everyone needs to pay a fair share. Without taxes we can't take care of the less fortunate, the infrastructure or anything else that the private sector wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.

That said, I think it's important that government learn to spend wisely and efficiently. Don't take my money just to throw it out the window.

We should not have to pay more...they should pay less. That is the problem. The US needs to learn how to balance their check book.

I have to do it every day for my family. Why should they not have too? We should not be in 2 billion dollar a month wars we can not afford.

And we should not be sending billions of dollars a year to other countries if we can not afford it. Why do we always have to buy our friends?

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
