The top 2% pay 30% of the taxes, but control 80% of the wealth. "How are the rich not paying their fair share?" A CEO will pay his fair share on his salary, but nobody is rich from their salary.
Warren Buffett is a prime example. He draws a salary of 100k, which is taxed just like my income, and gets the other $70 million in stock options which are taxed at 15% making his total tax liability 17%. Far less than a construction worker making 140k a year.
Why should a construction worker who only makes enough to cover his mortgage, food and college for his kids send more of his income to the government than a billionaire? That's nonsensical!
I have a question. I think it is really important. 47% of people paid no federal income taxes last year.
Is that the norm? Is that something that always happens? The answer is no.
The government has passed tax cuts for everyone, therefore, it has not been adequately funded for years (10 going on 12). How many countries do you know that cuts taxes during a time of war? The USA never did it until Bush 43.
When the time comes to pay off thew debt, which class of people do you think will pay off the most? It's not the rich.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
