While the overwhelming majority of the 50,000,000 monthly page views on Craigslist are by perfectly honest people, with so many users, and with so little policing of content, there are a significant number of less than honest users there too. Accordingly, I would strongly recommend against giving any personal information or letting anyone in your home based on a Craigslist ad interaction (unless it is unavoidable, e.g. If you're looking to rent out your place, etc.). The guidelines I would suggest would be as follows: 1.
Set up a special free email address (e.g. On gmail) for the purpose of Craigslist interactions, so your regular email address does not have to be disclosed. 2. Give your work or cell phone number rather than your home phone number, and even that, not in the ad, but only in response to a serious email response from a local person.3.
Set up meetings in a public place, and go there with a friend, or at least have a friend watching you from nearby, just in case. 4. Do not go to the other person's house, to an isolated location, to a bad neighborhood, etc.5.Do not give out your home address under any circumstances (except as stated above, if you're trying to sell the place or rent it out, and even then, not in the ad).
While most people are honest and non-violent, there are plenty of exceptions to that rule, and the likelihood of getting something free should not blind you or your friend to the risks of trusting strangers blindly.
Absolutely not, I would recommend never giving out your personal info to anyone you don't know on the internet. For every honest person like your friend there are probably a thousand with not so respectable intentions. Most are probably looking to steal your identity or even worse.
There is no need to give out your personal info in most scenarios. Anyone who asks for it, I would question there intentions and be VERY skeptical.
Maybe, but I'd be pretty cautious about doing so. I think most people are pretty honest but you can't be too careful nowadays. I'd probably want to speak on the phone with the person for several minutes before giving them my personal information, and if they were coming to my home I'd be sure a family member or friend were there when the person arrived.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
