Would you tell others about your good fishing spot to see other good fishing spots in return?

I'm asking this question to see if there is an interest in a website that shares good fishing spots. A registered user would be able to enter GPS coordinates, directions and other information about a good fishing spot they know about. Once posted, they would be able to see the fishing spots that others have posted.

Users could vote on every aspect of the information provided such as, quality of fish, best weather to fish, parking, accuracy of directions, etc. Users would visit the other fishing spots posted on the site, then vote/give feedback on that site. The more people use the site, the more valuable it becomes to fisherman. Any thoughts?

I think this is a great idea for a website! Fishermen are kindred spirits. There would be lots to share--tips, techniques, reviews of fishing equipment, jokes, fish stories, and even more fish stories, etc.The one thing no self respecting fisherman would ever share is a list of his/her secret fishing holes.

Secret fishing hole #1 Secret fishing hole #2 Now, that wouldn’t stop you from capturing the offered information. It could be highly entertaining. I would imagine some of the directions might get mighty complicated.

But, if I were trolling for fish, those GPS locations would form a map of places I sure as heck would not want to fish at. I’m pretty sure that these "spots" would all be within comfortable bino range of the "generous" fishermen, though. :) So, the good news is that this sounds like a pretty decent idea.

You could get advertising and make a little money while you’re having fun. The bad news is that Askville Q&A is all Google-able, so the idea is out there in the ether. So get working on it. I’m rooting for you on this one.

There are other, more experienced and avid fishermen in Askville. Hopefully, you will hear back from them. Sources: a few decades of experience fishin'; Google Images for photos Google Map View Larger Map .

In theory it only works if... You can test some of the other spots first...So if you have multiple fishing locations, you can rank them by how valuable they are... Give up one of the less valuable ones first to gain access to the others...Once you test them out, you can then post your top ones... Ummmm...I guess pun intented, it sounds like a "phishing" scam...You're given the allure of something valuable in exchange for something you have...be wary if you covet your special spot...

1 This is an interesting idea. However, I know a lot of fishermen, and fish myself, and there is NO way I or anyone of the fishing fans I know would EVER tell someone else about a good spot! .

3 What if the fishing spot you post would need to get ranked by someone other than yourself, and must be ranked as a good spot, before receiving information on others. I guess I would need to find a way to validate the spot. I just thought of this today so nothing is set in stone and I don't even know if I'll have time to build it.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
