Square foot gardening is a good choice for food production for someone who has limited space. You can grow food in a limited amount of space using this method. The Square Foot Gardening Foundation is a non profit agency working to teach people about this method of growing food to help end world hunger.
Their website explains how the gardening is done. There is a link in the source section to the foundation's website. More tips and tricks can be found on Tim's Square Foot Gardening website also shown in the sources block and accessible by clicking the photo.
Another way to grow some of your food in a small amount of space is to use the topsy turvy gardening system. This is an upside down type planter where the roots hang in something and the plant and it's fruit grow out the bottom. You can grow topsy turvy tomatoes, topsy turvy strawberries and peppers.
You can either buy a topsy turvy tomato planter or make your own from an empty five gallon bucket. Mahalo also has a How to Start Indoor Vegetable Gardening page which has useful tips to be considered.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
