1. The one you made about ethics, not only because of the tip, but because it's a hard topic that makes you think, wonder and rethink. I love that: mahalo.com/answers/psychology/is-it-ethi... 2.
"If I lived in the city-state Florence in 1503, what language would I speak? Italian? Latin?
", by @markjeffrey. It's an interesting question. My answer was chosen as the best that time, but @metrodorus added a fact that left me thinking and I shall do some research to come back with something: mahalo.com/answers/languages/if-i-lived-... 3. "How do you find Mahalo Answers?
Interesting? Addicting? ", by @ minicrivera.
I'm still rethinking about it: mahalo.com/answers/mahalo-answers-commun... *What were the three best answers given this week?1. @factotum's "I'd imagine that Mahalo is growing so quickly and being rewritten so much at this point that the paid staff don't really have the time to sit around all day trolling for an extra Mahalo Dollar. That role is for us overeducated unemployed people...".

The truth is that I lost the sense of time some 50-72 hours ago, but my guess is 15-19 hours per day. *Any other reflections on week one? I don't like to compare Mahalo Answers to Yahoo Answers, nor pound on the latter, but there's something that Mahalo does have: challenge and bright minds to discuss with.
That's the way knowledge is built and we all advance. As I said somewhere else: Can you imagine where we would be if this had been invented 100 years ago?
I really like Mahalo Answers, great idea Jason. As someone with a question that needs to be answered, Mahalo Answers makes it easy for me to crowdsource my answers. The tip system is genius.
However I do see a lot of answers that were posted just to get the double points (not helpful and mainly consisting of links to other sites). I would like to rate them as not helpful to discourage this but since I'm still a white belt I can't. However I understand that we don't want Mahalo Answers to become all flame-baity.
This should clear when there are more Yellow belts who can rate others' answers. The other thing is that the double points system probably encourages these 'drive-by answers'. I think it needs to be tweaked so that questions are highlighted but don't attract the just for points answers.P.S.The stylesheets on Mahalo Answers are suddenly missing.
Something up with the CDN?
1. What were the three best questions asked this week? A.
The $100 question about self-amputees (both the subject and the tip! ). B.
The "build a library" question. C. Make me laugh for $5.4.How many hours a day, on average, did you spend on Mahalo Answers this week?
Around 4 hours over the last two days.5. Any other reflections on week one? I emailed them to you from my ML address.
I already see it happening - 20 of the exact same answer. I know it is seemingly unavoidable, but imagine when we have 10 times the users - 200 similar answers on one question, causing information overload for the asker having to sift through everything. We need to be able to vote certain answers to the bottom in a "click here for additional answers" section and have "most helpful answers (as voted by users)" near the top.
You said, "We delete bad answers," but there is no way you can moderate the flood of answers and people will most likely only report NSFW answers.
1. What were the three best questions asked this week? I have enjoyed a number of the questions.
I like the variety of questions. Some have been poll type while others sought factual information or how to's. If I were to choose favorites, I'd choose this one and the question you posed about taking your staff to Disney Land.
I am in the education field, so seeing businesses reflect on the processes to improve performance is uplifting. 2. What were the three best answers given this week?
I got a $100 tip by selecting 23 as the number of new followers twitter.com/s7acker would get. (It wasn't a random guess, btw. ) So, I think I am obligated to say the best answer was 23, not 69 (temperature) or 42 (universe's meaning) 3.
What was the most fun question of the week? Banned ads 4. How many hours a day, on average, did you spend on Mahalo Answers this week?
Many more than I will ever admit 5. Any other reflections on week one? I have not gotten used to running out of ability to vote.
I'm out of votes for the day and just found an absolutely useless answer. I still want to know which of my answers were helpful and not helpful. I'd like that part to not be hidden.
I feel it's very good but . . .
There is already too much in the way of: 1. Answers that aren't intended to answer a question - they're just banter and contribute in no way to answering the initial question. 2.
Poor quality answers due to individuals wanting money even when they know little or nothing about the topic. This degrades the quality of Mahalo no end - and we're only days into it! I don't have a solution, but it's a pity people don't respect what this website is about.
I spent about 3 hours a day on Mahalo answers, but I wish there were more questions being asked! (questions with tips, and even free questions about relationships and video games) I think it's cool that it'll be a challenge to get to black belt, but there need to be more belts. Another belt between green and purple would help motivate people to log on more and it would deferential someone on here for a few days with someone on here for a few weeks; and perhaps a final, professional belt would be cool (even after black belt-100,000 points)!
The best question was yours with the "DARE" to film your building. Sadly, I don't live in NY :(.
Best Questions (all of which I answered): 1. Who picks the person who's going to be in the President's secret service team? (because I actually learned a lot trying to answer this) 2.
Was SNL ever as good as it used to be? 3. Is Playboy's Virgin Mary Cover offensive?(controversy is always intriguing) Best answers given this week: 1."I am my own grandpa" video: mahalo.com/answers/offbeat-questions/if-... 2.
Best perfume - I'm a sucker for things that smell amazing, so I got some great tips: mahalo.com/answers/skin-and-body/what-ar... 3. "Yes, it's offensive: That woman on the cover... she's not a virgin." : http://www.mahalo.com/answers/spirituality-and-religion/is-playboys-virgin-mary-cover-offensive Most fun question of the week - again, I think the Playboy Virgin. So much to unravel there.
Average hours/day I spent on Mahalo Answers - Well, I joined on Wednesday, and so far I'm going to say 5 hours... possibly more. Other reflections: 1. I'd LOVE to know which of my answers were helpful and not helpful.
It'll really tell me what I need to work on.2.So far, I'm really enjoying the community. Answers given here are so much more thought out and put together than Yahoo (I've officially abandoned them). 3. Mahalo Dollar idea was genius. As is the belt system.4.
Overall, I'm really enjoying it. Oh, P.S., fellow Mahaloans (?), I love film and new technology - feel free to ask me anything about those topics! I just got rid of my tip minimum because I truly just want to share my knowledge!
Mahalo!
1. My Favorite question were "If you were going to build a better library - either in a building, or on the web \ what would " "What is the purpose of a library? Why are they there?" 4.
I've spent about 15 hours this week while doing other stuff online right now it's very addicting, I like the social aspect of it as well getting to know different personalities 5. Any other reflections on week one? The sky is the limit, and I hope more questions that illicit debate will be posed I love it so far.
I love it... This is has become my favorite time spending web-site, dethroning both CNN. Com and EW.com. Those are two biggies to deny.My favorite questions are the cute photos ones.
They are so fun! Cheesy, I know. The best answers are the factual funny ones, usually by Darcy.
The best questions are ones that make people ponder items.
I'm loving it, I keep running in and browsing the questions. I've been a bit busy this week so I keep doing these run byes seeing what's been asked, what responses have been given. It's been a lot of fun and very addictive!
I'm going to have agree with teduncan on my favorite question. I'm a huge fan of libraries and loved seeing the ideas that came up there.
This is the same Mark Cuban who is an investor in Mahalo, which touts to advertisers how it taps into Google to generate page views. Is Google a vampire except when it works in Cuban's favor? It's compare and contrast time.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
