A female god of destruction, annihlation, carnage, etc. , besides Kali (Hindu goddess of Destruction)?

She's not supposed to be. One of the deities within Hinduism that (understandably) frightens a lot of people is Kali. This goddess is depicted as bloodthirsty with a necklace of skulls, holding a decapitated human head and standing on Shiva.

The Hindus were trying to personify spirituality as a force that is here to fight evil and evildoers. So these images must appear as fierce otherwise nobody would take it seriously! The word "Kali" is derived from the Sanskrit root word "Kala" which means "time".

The Hindus recognized that in order to get a perspective on life, we must take death into consideration. Everything be it individuals, societies, empires, nations are rushing towards destruction. And who is the destroyer?

- time Kali reminds us that no matter how grand may be our civilization or individuality, it is all at the mercy of time. The reason why she has the necklace of skulls is to remind us that in no time no matter how pretty or handsome we look today, we will look like skulls in the future. She's also shown to be mostly naked because she is revealing to you the "bare naked" truth.

The only way you can depict the idea of destruction of everything is to have a potent image which is not going to be soft and sweet, but is going to look very harsh.

. Looks more like a murdering octopus - - - But wait, an octopus only has 8 linbs?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
