It would be very simple for the girl friend to petition the court to get the restraining order removed. Until that happens, your son could be arrested and jailed for violating the order. It seems unlikely, however, that the courts have hired a "PI" to check up on them.
Any law enforcement officer could do that and arrest your son if he is in violation. As to what you can do - help your son get a reputable lawyer. Schelli's Recommendations Law For Dummies Amazon List Price: $21.99 Used from: $8.50 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (based on 3 reviews) .
Nothing. She filed a restraining order against him. It doesn't matter if she has a change of heart. My daughter's girlfriend did the same to her boyfriend.
They too reconciled, but wasn't caught. They always had a plan on how to meet. It's wrong, I know. But they just got luck.
Maybe she could appeal to the judge that she decided to reconcile and maybe he'll be lenient. I don't know. He was caught in violation.
It depends entireely on the judge. I hope the judge has a heart and everything will turn out fine and your son will get off with a warning or the restraint will be dropped. Lots os Luxk!

I worked in a prison briefly and met scores of men who were really surprised that they were caught (and ended up there in that prison.
) My point is that you don't stay out of prison by not getting caught; you stay out of prison by not doing it in the first place.
1 I would imagine that the judge should know the laws of his own state. Your son's girlfriend should have have the restraining order lifted against your son before taking him back--otherwise, he was still in violation of the law. Have the two of them plead stupidity!
