After you die would you rather be forgotten or remembered for something good and bad?

While the idea of being remembered by the entire world for having done something novel, my friends and family are what are more important to me than anyone else. These are the people who I grew up around and with so having them remember me in a positive way would be important than how the world viewed me. Family and friends have been there for me when the world wasn’t and as you mentioned, the world, your job and others really don’t care a lot about us when it’s all said and done.

If something happened to me today, my job would have someone to fill my position within a matter of days. The old saying comes to mind, “to the world you may be just one person but to one person you may be the world. So I guess what I’m trying to say is that I wouldn’t care if there was no trace of my existence to the world just as long as I was able to make a positive impact on my loved ones.

I agree with @jt3, what other people think about me and what I have done or accomplished when I was living does not matter to me. What matters most to me are my family, my children. As much as possible I want them to remember me as a mother who loves and care for them.

I want them to know that they are one reason my life was worth living. They gave my life purpose. I always tell my children that I am not a perfect mother but I am trying my best to inculcate to them the value of family and relationships.

This is what I want to leave to them so that they will be able to pass this on to their children and their children's children. I also want them to know that there is a God who is always there for them. I encourage them to have a personal relationship with Jesus because He is our anchor.

I shared with them my experiences and my crossroads in life. I told them to never let go of God for He has the wisdom to show them the right way to make decisions. My husband and I told them to value people more than any material things in this world.

Because everything here on earth shall pass and because material things will not offer a deeper kind of happiness and satisfaction in life. When I die, I want them to remember me in their hearts, when they cradle their own child. They will feel how much I loved them when they are holding a precious life in their womb and eventually in their arms.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
