America has been in Afghanistan now for what 8 years? What has been accomplished?

American invasion to Afghanistan was a planned attack prior to 9/11, but was a wrong tactics. Afghanistan is a worst country USSR burned their hands and now American are learning it in a hard way. One has to understand why USSR and Americans have failed in their mission.

Afghanistan was always an opium production country, where opium, money and war lords rule the county. Where corruption, religion, religion based jihads wars is been from ages. You cannot change it so suddenly.

This is a country with near the worst in the world in poverty rates, life expectancy, unemployment, child mortality, and lack or no of human rights. Human rights violation is a everyday phenomenon, history is the witness to such horrifying deeds. Before answering the question, what have eight years of war and occupation accomplished?

One have to understand the history bit. Stroy is the best guide. We have to go back in the mid of cold war period, when USSR invaded Afghanistan.

American’s went all out indirectly with the help of Pakistan and Jehadi groups to fight against Soviets. Gave planning, funding, providing logistical and intelligence support to these Jehadi groups and managed to push Soviets. But created demons in the name of Osama Bin Laden and the Taleban.

Pakistan gained in the bargin by getting funds from USA. And they kept on fuelling these groups for their own selfish motive. There is a saying in India, what you sow same thing you reap.

Eight years of war and occupation and what do USA see? The Afghan economy is shattered. Women remain oppressed, as they were under the Taliban.

Afghan anger and growing rage at the U. S is contiuing. The Taliban has increased in popularity because U.S.Attacks enflame Afghanis against the U.S. And is driving many reluctantly into the arms of the Taliban.

The recent elections are still being contested because of massive fraud. War and drug lords are part of the Afghanistan government. America is rich and technologically very advanced, but they have to understand one thing nation building is not their cup of tea.

America cannot justify an unjust and unwinnable war. American war on Afghanistan, perpetuating a cycle of violence and sowing the seeds of more 9/11’s, more terrorism, and many more wars. Afghanistan war is another Vietnam war?

But having put your hand America cannot pull back but fight this war for some more decades.

I have been looking for answers to this question all over the web since I saw this question here. I can not seem to find a whole lot that says we have accomplished anything in Afghanistan. I did come across this article that seems to show a yearly timeline through 2008 about the war.It seems that we did push back Al Quida and the Taliban though they have gained some of thier hold back.

We have also seemed to help the process of electing goverment seats and voting for them to take hold on the Afghan people. For the article I found follow this link. cnn.com/2009/WORLD/asiapcf/04/03/afghani....

There are many accomplishment in afghanistan for 8 years: Some obvious are: - Dislodge and disrupt the terror group taliban and al queda. - Made life of afghans a bit more bearable thru various assistance - Help establish democracy, new constitution and election -Destroyed thousand of tons of poppy, would otherwise become dangerous drug. There are much more that we even don't know about.

Let's remember why we are in Afghanistan. In 2001 the Taliban provided sanctuary to Al Qaeda. The 9/11 attacks were planned in Afghanistan and terrorists were using it as a secure base for training.

The Taliban chose to support Al Qaeda in the face of an American ultimatum and as a result the United States invaded in October 2001 driving the Taliban from power. In my opinion this was a legitimate act of self-defense by the United States because Al Qaeda had proven they could successfully attack the United States using Afghanistan as a base. Since that time the United States has struggled to transition Afghanistan into a peaceful democracy.

What has the US accomplished? We have eliminated a terrorist sanctuary and removed the Taliban from power. Both good things by most peoples measures.

There has not been another 9/11 is what has been accomplished by US presence in Iraq and Afghanistan. *knocks on wood that there won't be.

The attack on the world trade center was an act of war. There was no option but to respond.

America was able to put an end to the Taliban rule in Afghanistan. Many Afghan people immigrated to Canada and other countries. The Afghanis braved to vote the recent election even though Taliban threatened to punish who vote .

Still, Bin Laden is at large. More threats are coming against America. The lessons learned here are, winning the war can be easy, but bringing stability to a nation is hard to achieve. America should find a way to deal with threats, other than war.

Im not expert at whats happening in afgan, but as far as I have been informed a large increase of oils has been coming for afgan and areas about and Many american bases are made there as well. But I don't think this war of terrory is for the good only I serious think some profitseekers are up to things.

They Have accoplished so much. Afghan Army is Growing and people are starting to see safety. The mission is becoming more clear.

There has to be a Government and We are on our way to providing it. Canada Helps too.

Honestly doesn't seem like a whole lot...I'm sure there are those who would argue that though. I know I'm over there and I'm sure there are a bunch of little things that the troops see and do that we don't hear about....I guess in my opinion...if what need to be taken care of was taken care of we wouldn't have troops there....they are still there so apparantly not all is done and squared away...Just an opinion though..:).

The mission was... - Remove the Taliban - Eliminate Al Queda - Get 'Osama Bin Laden' Dead or Alive - Rebuild and establish an Afghan style democratic that respects fundamental human rights. So Far... - Bin Laden is still alive and cant be found (rather not looking hard enough). - Taliban has regrouped and is taking back some lost territories - A corrupt Afghan government rigging elections.

- Women's Rights not fully restored. So why is US still there? - To Protect the Poppy Fields Anybody who watched the movie "American Gangster" showed how Frank Lucas smuggled Heroin on dead american soldiers casket during the Vietnam War.

Even Wall Street is on the take when they announced "Afghan Opium Prices Drop to 8-Year Low, Cartels Grow (Update1)" Its amazing how they track Opium commodity prices on illegal drugs. When they are not traded on the open market. Will the Afghanistan War End?

There is so much money thrown around and to be made. They like to keep this war going on forever. Like the people from: - Military Weapons Contracts - Afghan Goverment Official - Private Security Contractors - like Blackwater - Druglords.

Nothing but a bunch of people getting murdered!

History repeats again, Afghanistan war is another Vietnam war? But having put your hand America cannot pull back but fight this war for some more decades.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
