Anyone else feel a bit ripped off when they answer one of the really old questions, and then discover it got "No Best Answer"?

No, it doesn't bother me and I'll tell you why. I put my best effort into the questions that I answer. If someone adds to that or comes up with a better answer, so much the better.

The goal here at Mahalo, as I see it, is to give the best possible answers to the questions asked. Once I submit my answer and respond to any replies, my job is done. Goal accomplished!

Now, if "No Best Answer" is selected it reflects the opinion of the voter. While I may not agree, it is their view. End of sentence, period!

As to my voting, after reflecting on the thread, mahalo.com/answers/mahalo-answers-commun... Why you should sometimes choose no best answer when voting on undecided questions. , I have decided to be very liberal. If there is only one answer and it in anyway answers the question, it has my vote.It IS the "Best Answer".

So, I use the "No Best Answer", sparingly, and only when really appropriate. I like pats on the back and to be rewarded for my effort. However, I want them to be sincere.

If someone thinks my answer was not helpful then please don't vote for it, even if it is all by it's lonely self! The following video says these things better then me.It does get a little religious at the three minute mark, so be forewarned. I really like the message though.

Of course it would make me feel a bit hurt in some way (if this happens to me). You exerted too much effort for it to get what? Nothing?

It's pretty normal to feel a little upset over it. But then, YOU know that you did your best and you deserve to get the best answer I'm pretty sure some other people noticed it as well. Oh well, there are tons of other questions there anyway... I'll just try my luck on them.

:).

I suspect that if you answered that question last week it would have just sailed through with no problem.... .... however since then we've had this question mahalo.com/answers/mahalo-answers-commun... which encourages people to vote for no best answer. I wouldn't get too hung up on it though... as I seem to recall from my last voting spree that you did get quite a lot of votes for your good answers.

I'd say no as well. I'll answer it to the best of my ability with the best information available. I stopped caring what people thought about me a long time ago.

:) I just do like I did through my career - I offer information, guidance, advice...it's up to the receiver to either act on it, or to do their own thing.

Nope. More often I get annoyed because someone was picking over my old questions and put in a brief, quick partial or wrong answer, and someone voted it best. You can't expect much from old questions, the asker has probably moved on, unless they are a regular.

Also, remember that questions stay open for 4 days and you can extend it once for 4 more days, for a total of 8 days. If no one answers your question after 8 days and it expires, you can try rephrasing your question and asking it again, or search Yahoo! Answers to see if anyone else has received an answer to a similar question.

So many great answers-which to choose? Try to choose the answer that you feel was most helpful. If it’s just too difficult to decide, let the Answers community pick the best answer by putting it up for a vote.

The voting period lasts two days and once the votes are cast, you’ll have your Best Answer. In case of a tie, the question will remain in voting as a tiebreaker. *Updated: What if there’s no best answer?

Sometimes there just isn’t a good answer. So when a question goes to vote, No Best Answer appears as an option along with the list of answers. When a question expires with only one answer, the question automatically goes to a vote, with No Best Answer as the second option.

If the community chooses an answer as the best, the question becomes resolved. However, if the No Best Answer option is chosen as best, the question is automatically deleted and the asker of the question gets five points credited back to their Answers account. Have more questions?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
