Answering A lot depends on where people are coming from. Our family has had reunions in Cincinnati. We have family there.

Three families to be exact. They took care of all the arrangements because they lived there. Cincinnati is also a midway point for the rest of us.

They reserved the pavillion at the park, got a caterer, let us all know what we owed and also reserved a block of rooms at a hotel. We all used email to get opinions. Those who drove a long way did not have to pay for food (since they paid for gas).

This year we are trying to change the location but it won't work for some people so we will go back to the old routine. You have to have people who are willing to be in charge. We have been on a cruise where there was a reunion also.

Good luck. It is all worth the work.

Just did it We just did this and I tell ya, depending on your family dynamics it can be tricky unless you're willing to foot the whole bill. We ended up with a few family fueds before the planning was done. I would say if you can agree on a place and a date you are doing good.

Get a core group to plan and make sure that this group is willing to foot most of the bill. You can ask for contributions but don't count on it even if people agree. Unless they put up the money be prepared to either pay for it yourself or have a family resentment.

If your family is perfectly functional then these things may not be an issue for you, but our family had history and garbage to overcome. We did pull it off however, although a few grandchildren ended up refusing to come. It was worth all the headaches though. It was my mom's 80th birthday and we saw cousins we had not seen for 30+ years.

Unless you're the Martha Stewart type and have a huge budget, I would sugest keeping it simple. We Barbq'd and potlucked the side dishes. We had different colored mardigras necklaces to show what part of the family we were from and bought some decorations from oriental.com We rented a PA system and the musical family members sang and played guitar.

It cost $160.00 to rent the rec center at the local park. All in all it cost about $700.00 split between 5 sibblings and we had a great time. Think about what would be fun for you! My best friend and I planned our 20th high school reunion and while we wanted everyone to have a wonderful time we made sure that there were activities that we were excited about. That way when things got hard we remained upbeat and saw things through.

The first thing I would do is pick a date and send out a "save the date" email. Try evites to do this. This accomplishes two things. It give people a heads up and if you ask people to forward it to "lost" family members you will get a bigger turn out.

Second, try to think "out of the box" for fun bonding activities (again the best are the one's you feel excited about) We decided that we didn't want to charge for our reunion, so we had a little silent auction of things we collected from the committee. We had glass vases, weekend trips to a coutry cabin, a ride along with a police officer etc.I think we only had about 15 items in all and it ended up paying for the reunion. We were excited about this activity and it turned out to be a real ice breaker.

Some other ideas are a photo booth (expensive, but fun), a hula contest, familty trivia etc.On the less expensive one try letting the kids organize them. If your weather premits try securing a shelter at a local park. Our taxes pay for some beautiful places and we should use them. It's also usually free!

Then you can assign potluck items my initial (use first initials since I assume lots of you might have the same last name innitial :) Those are just a few ideas. Best of luck!.

I think I can help you. My Mom plans ours every year. We have been having them for as long as I can remember.

First, she makes sure she has everyone's addresses. Then she has my cousin make up an invitation flyer on her computer with the day, date, time, place, and asks that everyone bring a covered dish. She then makes copies and mails them out to everyone in March.

She calls the park where we always have it in January for a reservation. She has her number on it to call if you can't make it. We always take up a collection to help with postage costs as we have a huge gathering.

Everyone also signs a guest book before they leave. We have several family members who have bands, so we always have great music. I am heading down south for this wonderful event this coming Saturday, as the reunion is Sunday, July 15th.

I hope this was helpful! Good luck! .

1 Thank You Hannah22, Most of my family lives in Massachusetts. I think most people are within driving distance. Some will have to drive further than others.

I am not sure how to get started though. Do I send an email or snail mail to as many family members as I can locate and find out who is willing to come and who would be willing to contribute? I think if I know that then I can look for a location and start planning from there.

I would like to do this soon since my dad has cancer and is not that well. He would love this I think and so would his sisters and their kids....Thank You for your quick reply! Brenda .

My husband and I are planning to add another member into our family.

What happens when you split a family plan with at&t.

I am doing family planning(injection) and I am becoming fat in my abdomen.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
