Are Iraq riots a reflection on the USA or Iraqi Governement? It seems USA wants stable dictarships?

Orientalism is the 1978 book by Edward Said who described a pervasive Western tradition, both academic and artistic, of prejudiced outsider interpretations of the East, shaped by the attitudes of European imperialism in the 18th and 19th centuries. Saying that Arabs riot par the course is a symptom of that - as if democracy is beyond the grasp of the social mind set of the Middle East. It serves as a good excuse / rationalization to continue the empire hubris for power & oil of the USA.

The iraq riots are just how life is in the middle east. Has there ver been real peace in that part of the world. If it isn't riots, then it will be religious skurmishes, if not that then bombing of their neighbours, if not that then fighting over which religion is right, if not that corruption in the government etc.Etc.Etc.

And just to be clear, the US government wants oil and power in that part of the world, not happiness for the people there.

I would say that there is little distinction between the USA and Iraqi government because the Iraqi administration was handpicked by the USA. I agree, it looks like the USA does want stable and subserviant dictatorships in the region.

The Iraq protests, which are indeed calling for an end to corruption, are also greatly motivated by the people's want for better living conditions and more jobs. Many of the people, especially the protestors, are jobless or make little money in the job that they do have, which is a strong motivator to do something. Sadly, corruption is inevitable in any large government and cannot ever be fully eradicated.

Even the U.S. Government, when closely inspected, is riddled with signs of corruption, corporate influence, and pork barrel spending. However, I do not believe that Iraq has a dictatorship or that the Iraq government is heading towards becoming another dictatorship. I believe that most of what is coming out of this government as far as corruption and unrest is simply because it is a very young government that is fairly new in it's ways of operation, and that in time conditions will improve as long as elections remain uncorrupt and the people are able to choose who they believe will serve the best interests of the people.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
