Are the Kansas City Royals giving up on Alex Gordon?

It appears as if they are giving up on him, unless they feel he wasn't progressing enough or will get enough playing time at the major league level this year so they sent him to where he can play daily and improve and get back to the majors. He is only 26 years old so has some time yet, but would say within the next year will have to prove he can play consistently well at the major league level. Looking at his statistics the first 2 seasons, he was steady, albeit not great.

He showed potential with 15 and 16 home runs in 2007 and 2008 respectively. But he also struck out 130 times and his average was never above .260. With the emergence of Alex Callaspo last season, hitting .300 with 41 doubles and 11 home runs and again hitting over .300 in the first part of this season, it appears the Kansas City Royals believe he is their third baseman of the future and Gordon's best shot of making it on the major league roster is as an outfielder, and maybe only a backup outfielder.

He may never be the star people were thinking when he was drafted.

.

This guy was a star in college and I feel still has the potential to reach that level in the Major leagues, although it may not be in Kansas City. With his demotion to Triple A and being replaced by Alberto Callaspo at 3rd for what seems to be the long term, his time in KC may be up. Remember that Gordon, still just 26, is a career .320/.433/.577 hitter in the minor leagues.

If he were added to a lineup with a little bit of punch in it, he may excel. Sometimes that is all a player needs to get started. A team like Detroit may be an option for him if they tire of the .220 average that Brandon Inge gives them.

He would be an upgrade for them and a player that may pay huge future dividends if he can stay injury free. From the articles I have read it appears he is doing well in a transition to Left Field. Press release: Alex Gordon looking good in left field: Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon has made an excellent transition to left field with Triple-A Omaha, according to The Kansas City Star's Bob Dutton.

Gordon is doing everything that the team has asked him to do and has done it with flying colors.

The player that offers a lot of promise, who was once picked second overall in the draft and regarded as the number prospect in baseball in 2007, was totally at the bottom of his career. With injuries that bothered him for the past few years he wasn’t been able to live up to the expectation of the people around him and haven’t fully tapped his potentials. Alex Gordon’ batting percentage was below the standard norm.

Going to the minors (Omaha) is not a 100 percent indication that the Kansas City Royals are giving up on him, but this might hurt the ego of Gordon, and this is the best way to enable Gordon get back into the groove, gain confidence, polish his game even further, get rid of the rust on him, and most importantly revive his old fiery self. It will be unfortunate to let Gordon go since the guy has talent and just need tremendous help to get his game going. The Royals made the right decision to ship him to the minors and if he still doesn’t shapeup then expect that he’ll be ship out in the near future.

But still, several teams will likely grab him. flickr.com/photos/elwoodphoto/396869982.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
