Are there moderate and compassionate Muslims or do all Muslims believe in the use of violence?

Of course there are moderate compassionate Muslims. Just like there are aggressive, destructive Christians and Jews, there are also peaceful compassionate ones. There are extremes found in every religion and every culture The Bible (both the Old and New Testaments) is full of violence.

All throughout history, there have been wars fought in the name of some form of god...from the Crusades to jihads and everything in between In general, loud and crazy people make the news. It's unfortunate but it's reality. We just have to really try hard to be just and compassionate...and one by one, we can help make the world a more peaceful place to live I'd just like to add to this answer that I am a Muslim & have many Muslim friends from many countries & so far no Muslim I have ever met in real life supports ANY kind of terrorism or violence against innocent civilians.

Plus remember there IS plurality within Islam, so we don't all agree on everything. The Prophet (PBUH) taught that women, children, elderly people, animals & even trees should not be harmed in war, let alone innocent civilians. He also taught that prisoners of war should NEVER be tortured or mistreated.

Terrorism, I believe, goes against the basic teachings of Islam.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
