As an Alzheimer's caregiver, how can I cope with hygiene problems?

In the area of personal hygiene, you as the caregiver may now need to prompt and supervise much more closely the patient’s grooming and dressing. Always give the patient only single, simple instructions, instead of stringing a whole series of instructions together. For instance, you can say: “now put the toothpaste on your toothbrush.”

Wait for that action to be accomplished before going on to the next instruction. Still later on you may need to perform these activities for the patient altogether. In terms of their getting to the bathroom on time, it will be best to establish a routine of taking the patient to the toilet roughly every two hours, “whether they need it or not,” in order to avoid embarrassing urinary incontinence.

Some patients even begin to urinate in inappropriate places, such as in a waste basket, and even closer supervision is then indicated.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
