Atheists and Protestants - Can we please leave the Catholics alone about the Priest scandals?

Out come the propagandist and uninformed who use any excuse to spread falsehoods by taking a Catholic question and going off topic. Many feel free to apply logic to any scripture they read, unless literalism can be utilized to try to create a weapon against Catholics. So sinful to twist the words of God.

They know not that they only harm themselves. The most important element in reading scripture is comprehending what the author meant to say. In this verse we must remember two things, Jesus is chastising Rabbi's and he never uses the word "God", but always refers rightfully to God as "Father".

In lay language he is telling the Rabbi's to come down off their high horse and stop acting like Gods, and that only God deserves the honors they, as men demand. This verse has nothing to do with the title and job of Catholic priests. Those of you who truly know Catholicism know that the Church makes the priest our servant, and never do we serve him.

We serve only the Church of our teacher Jesus Christ, our only intermediary for the salvation of our souls with God. "Then said Jesus to the crowds and to his disciples, 2 "The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses' seat; 3 so practice and observe whatever they tell you, but not what they do; for they preach, but do not practice. 4 They bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with their finger.

5 They do all their deeds to be seen by men; for they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long, 6 and they love the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues, 7 and salutations in the market places, and being called rabbi by men. 8 But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brethren. 9 And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.

10 Neither be called masters, for you have one master, the Christ. 11 He who is greatest among you shall be your servant; 12 whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. 13 "But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!

Because you shut the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither enter yourselves, nor allow those who would enter to go in.

Fundies and a few other groups make an issue out of EVERYTHING pertaining to Catholicism. Why? Who know?

Jealousy, holier-than-thou attitudes, an inferiority complex, hatred, bigotry....you can pretty much take your pick. Look at the answers you've gotten from them so far.....

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
