Well, if you prefer consistency, I can kick over into "pedant" mode. They called themselves a Commonwealth in their constitution, but it doesn't mean anything in particular. It kinda designates that they're a republic, as opposed to being subject to a monarch, but it's otherwise semantically and legally void.

They're all definitely states in that they are united with the other states to be United States. But it was funnier the way I wrote it the first time.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
