Can I build a deck over and around a central air conditioning unit?

The article linked below suggests that you should call the manufacturer of the unit to see how much clearance is needed, but recommends at least a foot or two. As for building an access door through the top, that might not be a bad idea, but maybe not necessary if you can access the AC from the side of the deck. We screwed lattice around the bottom edges of ours so it would be easy to remove if necessary.

Well sir, you need alot of clearance all around the unit. Not only for air flow but for maintanance access. The standard minimum clearance for AC units is 4 feet all around (top and sides).

Some units are even higher. You would have to check the manufacturers specs on that specific unit. DO NOT violate code in this matter!

You will be setting yourself up for many potentially costly problems. It may be cheaper in the long run to just move the unit. Have you considered building the deck to stop at (and just above) the unit, while making the main body of the deck extending farther in the other direction?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
