Try unplugging it or doing a reset to new conditions see if it is better. If not you may need a new router but it had nothing to do with an "attack". Data does not "back up" except during a transfer etc. Once that stops it stops and is NOT STORED in your router!

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
