Can I sue for Mental Anguish?

Not a successful one. To have a successful suit for intentional infliction of emotional distress, you have to be able to demonstrate that they took action for the specific purpose of CAUSING you emotional distress. You are not entitled to receive emotional distress damages because you can't handle the pressures of an extremely demanding job.

You have a pre-existing condition that makes you markedly unsuited for a high pressure environment. They are not responsible for your mental anguish. You can calmly and professionally describe the problems and your concerns in writing to whomsoever needs to have this information .

. . And frankly, you should have done so before walking off.

Response to your edit: Sweet pea, you're misapplying the law with regard to intentional infliction of emotional distress. Their alleged negligence with regard to the staffing is not YOUR cause of action. Negligence is a breach of a duty that is owed to the victim.

You were under pressure and their staffing was inadequate, but you are not a victim of NEGLIGENCE. It is a potential cause of action for the patients! For YOU to have a valid claim against your employer, you will be required to demonstrate that their actions were deliberately designed to cause you emotional distress.

Period. Just because you experience mental suffering doesn't mean that you get a pay day. And your pre-existing condition will destroy any chance you have.

Grown ups are supposed to deal with problems and concerns in a grown up way . . .

Rather than to have regular breakdowns. Frankly, they will be able to argue (successfully) that you would have been a much more productive employee if you hadn't been having these episodes.

Sorry - you lost what little case you had when you walked off the job. You lost my vote - I am worried for all those poor patients who needed someone after you left. I think it might be wise for you to think about a new profession.

It does not seem to me that the stress level works for you. And can not have a nurse who walks off the job. What if someone died cause of your leaving?

Good luck to you - every one deserves a job that doesn't make them cry.

In order to prevail in a suit for mental anguish the conduct by the defendants must be EXTREME and OUTRAGEOUS and you must show injury. However, your story is a little off. My question to you is, if you showed the officers a military ID, that's proof that you were in the service.

You go on to say that when taunting you, they told you that you'll NEVER JOIN THE SERVICE NOW. I'm sure you see the inconsistency. Were you IN the service or NOT?

If you're making up a story, WHY? Unless you did something REALLY bad, police officers would not use excessive force against an individual they KNEW was on active duty. It's one thing to beat the crap out of a street junkie ... it's another thing to use it against a member of the armed forces.

Come On Man ... if you're making up a story, do a little better than this ...

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
