Can I use tonic water instead of club soda in a bread recipe?

It's the same thing. Sure you don't want flavored tonic club soda water? Say, a 7-UP cake, or a coca cola muffin?.

1 I don't know that I'd do that. Tonic water has quinine in it and will alter the flavor of your bread, giving it a bitter taste. But then, I've never made bread using club soda, either.

I have made beer bread, and most beer bread recipes use a lot of sugar. If your recipe calls for a lot of sugar, you might be okay with the Tonic, but it will still have a "different" taste.

3 Liquid-wise, and carbonation-wise, they would have similar qualities. But while club soda is fairly pure stuff (carbonated water plus possibly some salt), tonic water has: Carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup, citric acid, natural and artificial flavors, quinine. The sugar (high fructose corn syrup) in the tonic water may mess with the consistency a bit and make the bread caramelize on top more.

The other ingredients will all alter the flavor. Perhaps you could try it if it is an experiment. If to serve to guests or if you are counting on it to survive tonight.... well... hmm...

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
