Can you name two politicians in Washington D.C. (2 from each party) who are looking out for the "average" American?

I would look to their actions. Do they seek to fund programs to help Main Street? Do they seek to protect Medicare, Social Security and education?

Do they work to build up communities rather than shut down services such as living centers for seniors? Do they seek to tax the wealthy so the poor don't have to always be the ones to pay for services we all use? Do they have free health care clinics periodically for those with no insurance?

That would be the Democrats. That would be Obama, Bernie Sanders, Alan Grayson....and so many more. I cannot think of two people in the Republican party who give a crap about anyone but their rich buddies.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
