Can you own a handgun or hunting rifle in the UK?

Me :) Guys guys guys listen.... I've got it! Lets just ask everyone in the world to stop making new weapons. Of course they will all want to, who would not right?

Yeah! We can shut down all the weapons manufacturers in the world (I'm sure it's only a few million jobs, totally not a big deal). After we are sure guns are no longer being made we can then ask everyone like the Taliban, IRA, various mafias and street gangs to pretty please turn in all of their weapons and they will get a nice $50 Walmart gift card in return.

Oh lets not forget the law abiding citizens, military and law enforcement agencies (which they will no longer need because our enemies and potential threatening nations will have disarmed themselves) Then after all the weapons in the whole wide world are all gone we can skip through fields of daisies and rainbows and live long happy lives because without guns all violence will just vanish and everyone will be happy... That sounds like a solid plan so what are we waiting for? Oh boy! Lets cuddle.... You people that want to or even think we should take away all the firearms (or regulate anything) are complete fools.

Do you really think that even for a second that is possible? If so you should move onto an island in the Pacific and live out your days by yourself. Better yet take all of the other like minded individuals with you.

Taking weapons away from people including law abiding citizens is not the answer and you are a moron... Guess what? Criminals are not going to give a rats behind that guns are illegal, or banned, or regulated. They will still obtain them illegally and use them on all of the population that you brain dead people just disarmed... good job.

I wonder what will go through your head when someone breaks into your house and does horrible things to you and your family. I bet you will wish that you had one, just one weapon... one chance to protect yourself and your loved ones. What about when someone comes in through your daughters window?

I'm sure they just want to have tea and crumpets... Or how about that time when you are walking through the mall and someone starts shooting people? What if you had that weapon concealed on your person and used your chance to engage that target and save lives? Perhaps it is better to just run away in fear like sheep?

Open your eyes people and stop living in a bubble. The world is a dangerous place and anyone should have the right and the chance to protect themselves. I think the process to obtain a firearm should be more extensive absolutely!

I cannot agree more there. But there will always be bad people ready to do bad things to good people. Let them have that chance to defend themselves because the bad guys will always have weapons.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
