I know a lady who does it. She is married, with children too, and the whole family travels with the show. Apparently, it is a pretty tough life.
While she is a nice person, carnies aren't always such. It tends to attract a certain sort who are often (but not always) on the negative side. But, if you don't want the regular 9 to 5, it is ideal.
Loads of travel, lots of hard work, and many challenges. Worth giving a try for sure. If you like it, you'll never get rich, but, it will always be fun.
Yes, find another travelling job. The life of a carnival worker is sad, difficult, dirty, and the people you would be working with are some of the least competent, least interesting, least classy people you would ever NOT want to meet. No joke.
It's a dead-end job, and the places you're likely to travel to are going to bear a striking resemblance to your hometown. Make another plan.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
