Uganda is not a theocracy. The government make laws, not religions or religious leaders. In the United States, and in fact in every country, you certainly do have gay-bashers and some of them certainly may use their Bibles, Qurans, Torahs, etc. to justify their actions.
However for the most part gay- bashers are not religiously motivated at all. Most feel a degree of attraction towards being gay and strike out against it. One guy I used to work with (an atheist) constantly attacked gays.
When I asked him why he said (as best as I remember) "I am a young good looking guy. I can just image what they would do to me if a bunch of them grabbed me and dragged me into an alley." My response to him was "If you were a confident heterosexual you would not be having homosexual fantasies."
It really has nothing to do with religion.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
