Conservatives, do you support legalizing marijuana?

There's a whole industry that has grown up around Reagan's "War on Drugs." There's tens of billions of dollars at at stake here. The GOP could trim a fair-sized chunk off the deficit if they acknowledged that the war was lost a long time ago.

Layoffs for the DEA? I'm willing to bet the knowledge gained by DEA agents would guarantee that any of them could find new jobs - with legitimate growers producing PRIMO weed. They would be "Made in America" jobs - there wouldn't be any incentive for the likes of Romney to outsource to China.

The pressures on courts and jails would be relieved - there'd be more room to keep DANGEROUS people off the streets.

Legalized marijauana is going to be heavily taxed. More than likely the street drugs are going to be cheaper and therefore going to be the "go to" spot to buy drugs. Edit to answer: There aren't that many "illegal tabacco" growers, all tabacco growers are regulated farms, however the "roll your own" cigarrette business is cheaper than store bought cigarettes and is on the rise due to the high price of said product....the price of alcohol is stable and affordable so no need to go to moonshiners who do not, by and large, have a large variety to choose from.

Since we don't know yet what the price of Marijauna will be, we will have to see if it falls into the "affordable" category, but with the regulations and taxes I have been hearing about, it would probably be cheaper to buy it off the street.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
