Could God create a rock so heavy he couldn't lift it?

That's really a tired old, ridiculous question.

Lol I heard this question before. If the god you speak of is the Christian omnipotent god then, yes he could. In reality no it could not.

The Great Spirit can move/lift anything, in my opinion.

Sounds like my kid's elementary school project!

This question has been flogged to death IMHO. The answer is an obvious NO! Weight has to do with gravity.

God is outside of natural, physical laws (which He created to keep order in our known universe), so, the law fo gravity does not apply. The second point is, why bother? Just because some clever little creation, no more than the grains of sand, want some intellectual "slam dunk"?

Or is it to say, "aha. That proves He's not omnipotent! " Again, who cares?

There are bigger issues to deal with than that, like where will you spend Eternity? What kind of legacy will you leave behind? How can you contribute to society.? How can you help your fellow man?

Etc.

Suppose he could create a big crane also, problem solved!

Well, perhaps but perhaps not judging by the responses here. I may get flagged for this and some people might even say Booo to me but someone has to say it. Why do people ask ridiculous nonsense questions?

Are you so much in need of an accolade that you sit there and come up with stuff like this to boost your numbers? There could be other reasons I suppose but I best not get into that as I don't want to be too insulting. AND crankalicious I do owe you a bit of an apology.

I could have posted this to many different similarly crappy questions but just happened to do it here in yours. This gives me a whole new list of ideas for questions.

Since we can't create rock then the answer is no. We are god afterall and I don't think we can create a rock.

Yes, but symbolically: The "rock" would be a "promise" to a perfect person. "Lifting" the rock would be "breaking" his promise. If that person stayed perfect, God would not be able to break his promise, because he doesn't break promises made to perfect people.

Even Satan ask permission from God to test human; God has the authority whether He can show you the way, or to test your heart like a pure gold. If you are sincere and honest, God definitely give the strength in the midst of the trials. Once you pass through it, you will be enlighten and see life in different ways.

God is justice, He never let a soul bear the difficulties beyond its capability.

Yes God could create a rock that heavy, in fact God already created one which has grown too heavy even for s own will power to lift and carry, that piece of rock is called EARTH. When God became flesh, how heavy do you think was it for m to carry that cross on his back while he was on his way to his place of crucifixion in Calvary?

Yes he could. Perhaps he couldn't lift it on his own, but he could lift it indirectly by means of a fulcrum or pulley system.

Well, If He creates a rock that heavy He would contradict s character as an all-powerful being. Asking that question, is like asking "can God be all-powerful and not-all-powerful at the same time?"Omnipotence is the ability of the supreme being to do whatever He wants...omnipotence doesn't mean He can do everything. God cannot do evil things...right?

Like maybe Jesus and God in a UFC cage with Satan as the Referee! Sorry dude, rocks are boring... I really liked the guys crane answer though :).

This is a silly question for real I mean he made the earth and the all of the stars so I really do not think that he would make a rock that would be to heavy for him to lift any ways he is the most powerful thing we know and he would find a way to move anything he wanted to.

God commanded the rock to get up, and the rock obeys ...

It is neither yes nor no, but rather the fact that god does not lift rocks. It is outside of god's existence to do such things. Humans think about lifting rocks and creating rocks, but god does not do this sort of thing.

Stop asking dumb, tired, old questions.

God can do evil things....he/she/it created Marmite, that stuff is evil!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
