Could you envision what the world will "run on" when we exhaust the known oil reserves?

Also, what year is this going to happen in (approximately). Will the transistion go smoothly? Asked by TimLahr 45 months ago Similar questions: envision world run exhaust oil reserves Business.

Electricty and hydrogen We aren't going to run out of oil. It will just become so expensive to procure that alternative sources will become viable. Coal will be a viable source of energy for a long time.It will just cost more to use it because of the cost of cleaning it up.

We will use the coal to produce electricity to power our electric cars. Our efficiencies will increase because of the increasing cost of energy. Railroads will develop to where they ought to be for moving freight and commuters.

Other forms of mass transit will develop as the population density increases. Solar power will supplement the power grid as will wind farms. Geothermal energy can be a huge supplement if we are willing to make the investment.

Other sources of energy might include nuclear fission or maybe even Tesla's power transmission idea. I strongly suspect that the power companies' lobby is a major obstacle to developing alternative sources. And finally, the transition will go smoothly because we are willing to pay for our toys.

Peace will be forced on the dissidents because peace is necessary to make this all work. Someone said, "Our army is at war in the middle east, but America is at the mall." .

It won't happen Oil is not primarily a fossil fuel. It is being produced within the earth itself from our rather vast carbon components. An excellent book on this is The Deep Hot Biosphere; The Myth of Fossil Fuels, by Thomas Gold.

This is, by the way, why they are not always sure where to drill for the stuff! Tuppence's Recommendations The Deep Hot Biosphere : The Myth of Fossil Fuels Amazon List Price: $20.00 Used from: $10.75 Average Customer Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (based on 26 reviews) .

Don't Worry We have a lot more oil reserves than the environmentalist lead you to believe. We have wells that are capped in the midwest because the owners don't think they can make enoug money out of them right now.

I just heard some great news yesterday: Pacific Gas & Electric is one of the biggest energy producers in the nation and covers most of the West Coast. I heard a radio news blurb that they have invested heavily in solar power farms out in our high desert. I haven't heard the particulars on how the energy will be transported into our cities, but at least this is a start.

Also, where I live, there are many now using bio-diesel. Supposedly any deisel engine can run on vegetable oil. It is being used right now and for just pennies..

I suspect, for the most part, transportation will be electric - as you can imagine, that leaves out air travel of any kind. If we are unlucky enough to see the end coming and plan for it, rather than living in a fantasy world that it isn't happening, we may end up with steam, horses and feet.

Smelly exhaust all of a sudden & slight oil leakage.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
