Electricty and hydrogen We aren't going to run out of oil. It will just become so expensive to procure that alternative sources will become viable. Coal will be a viable source of energy for a long time.It will just cost more to use it because of the cost of cleaning it up.

Don't Worry We have a lot more oil reserves than the environmentalist lead you to believe. We have wells that are capped in the midwest because the owners don't think they can make enoug money out of them right now.

I just heard some great news yesterday: Pacific Gas & Electric is one of the biggest energy producers in the nation and covers most of the West Coast. I heard a radio news blurb that they have invested heavily in solar power farms out in our high desert. I haven't heard the particulars on how the energy will be transported into our cities, but at least this is a start.

Also, where I live, there are many now using bio-diesel. Supposedly any deisel engine can run on vegetable oil. It is being used right now and for just pennies..

I suspect, for the most part, transportation will be electric - as you can imagine, that leaves out air travel of any kind. If we are unlucky enough to see the end coming and plan for it, rather than living in a fantasy world that it isn't happening, we may end up with steam, horses and feet.
